Not every update we ship is a feature you can click on. This one lives entirely underneath the platform — but it’s one of the more important changes we’ve made this year.

LinkTwist is migrating its database from SQL Server to Amazon Aurora.

Why we’re doing this now

We’re growing the number of suppliers and operators running on LinkTwist, and growth like that puts real pressure on the database underneath everything — every booking, every price check, every availability lookup.

SQL Server handles that load fine at a given scale, but it doesn’t flex with demand. Amazon Aurora does. It can automatically scale up when traffic spikes and scale back down when it doesn’t need the extra capacity, instead of running fixed infrastructure sized for the busiest possible moment. That’s exactly what we need as we bring more suppliers onto the platform.

What changes for you

Nothing, on purpose.

This migration is infrastructure work, not a feature release, and we built the plan around two goals: zero downtime during the move, and faster request and response times once it’s done. No new screens, no new steps, nothing to learn.

If you notice anything at all, it should just be that the platform feels a little quicker — pages loading faster, requests resolving with less delay.

The bigger picture

Moving the database isn’t a flashy update, but it’s the kind of work that makes everything else possible. A platform that can scale automatically with demand is a platform that can keep adding suppliers, operators, and bookings without slowing down for anyone already on it.
